SCP-6792-1, as observed from Foundation Satellite XVJ-112

Special Containment Procedures: Due to the distance and gravitational forces separating SCP-6792 from Earth as well as the velocity of SCP-6792, complete containment by the SCP Foundation is not possible at this time. Foundation Webcrawler FZK-657 "Cosmonaut" is currently tasked with scouring the internet for cases of SCP-6792-2 infection.

All instances of SCP-6792-1 are to be requisitioned by the SCP Foundation and stored in the Site-42 Biological Storage Freezer to limit public exposure to the bacteria.

In the event that X > 15% of the Earth's population is infected, global quarantine is to be carried out in a four way effort by the SCP Foundation, the Global Occult Coalition, the Anomalous Crimes Investigation and Intervention Division, and the Chaos Insurgency.

Description: SCP-6792-1 is a celestial comet orbiting the sun on an ovoid/elliptical path, comprised of a mix of ice and dust particles. Although SCP-6792-1 is not strictly 'anomalous', it has gained SCP classification due to direct relation to SCP-6792-2.

SCP-6792-2 is a thaumaturgic prokaryotic microorganism (bacterium) of unknown genus located within SCP-6792's glacial structure. Biological organisms affected by SCP-6792-2 (designated SCP-6792-3) will develop additional appendages, tissues, and organs of unknown composition which spread rapidly throughout the body. The infected tissues do not interact with physical matter or energy as would be appropriate for a conventional substance, suggesting a primarily thaumaturgic composition.

Humans mutated by SCP-6792-2 bacterium typically display significant alterations to their physiology and psychology as with any other affected organism. The bacterium typically renders the mental faculties of infected subjects inert. Although subjects display reduced mental capacity, brain necrosis (similar to SCP-008) is not present. Subjects experience similar symptoms to a SCP-008 infection, including:

  • Nervous and muscular systems are unaffected by total organ failure for several hours.
  • Metabolism may decrease to extremely low levels, allowing subject to survive for over 10 years without nutrition.
  • High blood viscosity results in negligible blood flow from gunshot, puncture, and slashing injuries.
  • Conditioned behavior, motor controls, and instinctive behavioral mechanisms are damaged, and cognitive abilities are severely hindered.
  • The need for significant cranial trauma to be applied in order to effectively neutralize subjects.
  • Extreme spontaneous genetic mutation in the form of uncontrolled, unnatural physical growth, typically manifested in grossly disproportionate appendages and limbs.
Addendum 6792-01: Testing Logs
Subject Date Results
One human, male, 25 03/04/2020 Subject began to grow exponentially for several minutes, before sprouting tentacle-like appendages. Subject proceeded to attempt to breach the testing area, and was terminated.
One human, male, 37 03/04/2020 Subject seemed to be unaffected for nearly an hour, before expiring. Autopsy shows internal organs have been replaced by an unknown black substance of similar composition to the tentacles created by SCP-6792-2
One human, female, 25 03/05/2020 Testing suspended.

Addendum 6792-1923-Alpha Event On 01/15/2020, SCP-6792-1 impacted with SCP-1923-Alpha in the Asteroid Belt, causing significant portions of SCP-6792-1 to shatter from the main body and impact the Earth. Significant portions of SCP-6792-1 have been collected put into Foundation storage.
