Gender » Female.

Occupation » On-site Psychiatrist.

Physical Profile » Melissa’s facial features include an oval-shaped face, a well-defined jawline, pink lipstick, nearly colorless eyes, which only show a hint of gray color, (hence the nickname, Dr. Lifeless), as well as long, orange hair that flows down to her upper back. Wu requires glasses and is barely ever seen without them, wherever she goes, even if there’s a high chance of them breaking. Mellisa’s bangs are almost always left on the right side of her face, though they are not long enough to impede her vision by any means. Melissa’s face contains no wrinkles, scars, or any other common imperfections, due to how well she takes care of her skin, which usually takes up the majority of her mornings. Mellisa uses no makeup, besides the occasional pink lipstick that was mentioned earlier. Curiously, on the right side of her orange hair, she has two small band-aids on strands of her hair, apparently used for cosmetic reasons.

Melissa has a pale skin complexion, which also adds another reason to her now commonly used nickname since the complexion resembles that of a recently deceased corpse. Melissa is considered to be fit, though she does not work out at any gym, or even at home, however she occasionally does a bit of cardio, having a preferred spot for the activity. Mellissa is a rather short and slim woman, being around one-hundred and fifty-seven centimeters tall, as well as weighing about forty-five kilograms. Melissa is thirty-three years old, though is usually believed to be much younger, due to her appearance. Melissa does not have any tattoos or marking located on any part of her body, due to her distinct like of ink, at least, the thought of putting it on her body. Melissa is commonly seen in her Medical uniform, which consists of a green button-up shirt, an over-sized lab coat, and blue jeans, though she has three unique outfits, one being for everyday casual usage, the other two for being special occasions.

Her first outfit consists of a pink jacket with the face of the Shiba Inu dog breed on the front, which can be seen on the side. She wears comfortable leggings along with this outfit, and usually wears a black tank top underneath the hoodie, with her shoes being pink sneakers. This is the outfit she wears for casual areas and events. A more formal outfit is the simple charcoal suit outfit with a tie, which can be various colors, as well as black leather shoes. She wears this suit during any formal function or meetings with her supervisors or coworkers. Her final outfit is for parties or going somewhere with friends, which consists of black thigh-highs, a black sweater, and black boots.

Psychological Profile » Melissa has no mental illnesses, and from all psychological tests, she has been confirmed as stable and healthy mentally. Melissa seems to care quite a bit about fashion, which she claims to get from her mother. Melissa is a rather kind-hearted person and seems to care deeply for everyone that has regular sessions with her, no matter the reason. She enjoys helping them, though she doesn’t have many tactics since she is relatively new to psychology itself. She has no problems working with anomalies and usually works with both SCPs and Staff. From her position, she believes that the SCPs are just like humans, since, quote ‘They think like us, they act like us, some of them look like us, and they talk like us’. Melissa enjoys fashion greatly and cares deeply about her appearance, and when asked about this, the only response given is ‘When in Rome, wear as the Romans wear.’ Melissa is a soft-spoken individual and is the last to brag about any accomplishment in her life, believing that shoving your accomplishments in someone’s face just makes you look foolish. Melissa usually has an upbeat attitude in most conversations and tries her best to be optimistic in any situation, since she finds a positive attitude the key to being happy.

Melissa seems to have no anomalous properties, with all brain scans and other bodily tests coming back with normal human standards. Melissa has a slightly above average hume rating, though this is considered to be unimportant from further testing. Melissa is rather skilled at hiding her emotions, with people barely ever able to guess what she is feeling at the time. Though, her emotions do often influence her decisions, with most of them being based on what she feels is the best option in the moment, rather than what she thinks. Melissa hates comparisons, especially when she is compared to anyone else for any reason, even if it’s to compliment her, since, quote, ‘Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. It is unfair to compare me, a Psychiatrist, to one of the Security Officers, as we both provide different contributions to humanity and the Site’. Melissa seems to be a fan of science-fiction, often making references to obscure movies or books in that genre during interactions with other staff. Melissa is not religious in any way, despite her family having tried converting her to Buddhism.

Background/History »

Early Life »

Melissa was born in the Kwun Tong District of Hong Kong, which is known for the high levels of poverty, high levels of pollution, as well as the aging population it contains. Her family was a part of the poor population in the District. She lived in the Lam Tin area of the District and was where most of her childhood took place. Melissa grew up with three other siblings, all three of which being male, with Melissa the only female child outside of the extended family. She seemed to have trouble with communicating with fellow girls during her youth, due to rarely having any interaction with them at her small apartment that her family took residence in. However, as she entered high school, she would make a few female friends, who were as awkward as her when it came to talking with other members of the same-sex, including her current best friend that she lives with. She also began to seek quite a bit of attention from her family and others during her youth, usually gaining it by out-performing all of her siblings in academics, and, at the age of seventeen, moved to America to go to college to gain a degree in Chemistry, before trying to head to medical school to become a Psychiatrist.

Post Secondary School »

She moved to ████████, California, due to having a friend that had moved there the year prior, and took up residency in their home. She didn't speak very much English at first and had taken lessons from her friend, before deciding to try her best to enter the California Institute of Technology, making an application and sending it. However, should she be denied, she had backups to send to other colleges that she thought were the best for her, which included Pomona College, Harvey Mudd College, as well as a few others. Fortunately, and to her small surprise, she was accepted into the college, and seen as one of the top applicants, due to her near-perfect SAT score, a perfect ACT score, as well as the grades she achieved during both primary and secondary schooling. She would eventually move out of her friend's house to live on campus in one of the dorms, managing to have brung her laptop and a few other personal belongings. During her first year, she would attain a job as a Barista for Charlie’s Coffeehouse, a popular coffee house that was near the campus. She managed to become much better at social interactions with people, due to having to interact with them almost every day. Nothing else had changed much during the following years, and she would continue working as a Barista until obtaining her degree four years later, now quitting her job and applying to UCSF School of Medicine to obtain her Ph.D. in Psychiatry, moving to another campus and taking her belongings with her once again, though she had bought a new laptop by the third year, and decided to give her laptop to a friend before leaving the city and moving to the San Francisco area. After having moved to San Francisco, she would continue her education, as well as finding another side gig to pay for Medical School. She eventually came up with the idea of becoming an online tutor, due to her knowledge in many subjects. She also began donating plasma for money, believing that she wouldn’t be able to rely on just being a tutor. Around this time, her oldest brother, Liam Wu, would suffer an epileptic seizure while swimming in a pool, dying from drowning. Due to the distance of the funeral and the required time she would need to get there, she would be given around five days for grieving and going to the funeral. After day three, she would head back to campus, still grieving, though trying her best to push through it. She eventually finished Med School, gaining the requirements before becoming a Prison Psychiatrist, due to that position intriguing her, as well as the position being closest to her current living arrangement.

Career as a Prison Psychiatrist »

At the age of twenty-nine, she would become a Prison Psychiatrist at the Valley State Prison for Women, trying her best to treat the large population of mentally ill prisoners, a few of which being future D-class personnel. She became rather sympathetic to most of them and tried her best to treat them, usually involving medication, though if they said that the medication didn’t work, she simply focused on trying whatever she could to help the patient’s disorder, usually through cognitive therapy and group therapy for Schizophrenic patients, regular talk therapy and antidepressants for Depressed patients, and other usual treatments for every mental illness. Eventually, after a few years in this position, she would quit her job, for reasons unbeknownst to most of her co-workers and friends.

Current Foundation Employment »

Two weeks after quitting her job at the Prison, she would apply to the Foundation, mostly for the sake of having the chance of speaking with humanoid anomalies, wondering whether or not they felt the same things as the humans around them, though she was also sick of her previous occupation. Melissa would eventually learn the answer to this question, once she had begun treating SCPs with mental disorders, with the disorder usually being PTSD. She has been working at the Foundation for six months and has had numerous patients throughout her time.
