Beginning of a Beginning that should End

You know, when someone dies, you don't know what goes on with them after their life just… y'know, ceases. What you expect is just what your imagination stirs up inside your mind. You might head into an afterlife, or be forced to sit within an endless void. Maybe you do die, but you don't realise it because your mind creates a fabrication of the reality you once knew. You could very well just live within a world that only children could conjure up in their heads to escape reality, and you'd just be a child that has been stripped of their identity, thus their regrets and guilt in the past life.

But… in this world, the anomalous bloodline that goes under the surname of "Klien", they experience something called "reincarnation". In rare occasions, they may simply experience a simple transfer of their old body into a new, more fresh and youthful specimen. In most scenarios, they're stuck within an endless void, forced to wait until they've either lost their own identity or have gone through it long enough and kept fragments of their actual personality and knowledge from within their previous life. Now, it sounds a little complicated, but it really isn't. Either they reincarnated a proper way, or they just… y'know… became a new identity.

This tale is going to regard to Henry Might Klien, a former councilman that took the title of Seventh Overseer within the Foundation. I speak to you as if you understand what I just said, and I assume you do, because if not… You need to get your facts checked about the actual organisation and who the Foundation's led by.

Anyway, just think of what agony the man went through, desperately clinging to what memories he had, some slipping under his mind and fading into nothing from being forgotten. The most he remembered was his capability to speak, his surname, and that he was someone that was important. Now, with this context, let us begin, audience. Let us see how the latest reincarnation of Henry Might Klien, and those before him, have coped with this new life.

Meet Barbara Fright Klien, and yes, that middle name is a legitimate name she was given, a young girl that was born within a normal life, from an obviously abnormal bloodline, but nonetheless, it hadn't affected her until days ago. She would find her own mind being forced into a suppressed state, her own body being hijacked by some weird force and would make her undergo the ritual of reincarnation. It started with her own skin starting to change colour, starting with her fingers and toes, running across her appendages and becoming more evident. Like something you'd see from Paul Jennings. Just an Aussie reference.

Her mother was calm and collected, attempting to ease her daughter, while her father had been panicking after seeing such an anomalous phenomena occur within his child. While he did not show it, he was clearly scared and worried for his daughter, not able to properly cope with the Unknown. Of course, the fact that the woman had kept her bloodline's secret from the man didn't make it better. He couldn't be trusted. At least, in her mother's opinion.

So while she remained at home while her younger brother resumed his life, Barbara would note some differences in her own behaviour. Once cheerful and emotional, she had become more withdrawn and apathetic, whilst also curious about her own lineage. But no matter how many times she asked her mother, Fright only received the same response.

"You are Klien, Barbara. There is nothing wrong with our bloodline. Just know that you are going to be reborn into a new world."

And she remains within her household, aged 11 years old, attempting to understand why the world was changing colours and what this life was going to become. Her father seemed to have gotten used to his daughter's unknown phenomena, though seemed more distant with how he acted towards Barbara. He also seemed to make excuses to avoid helping her or playing games with her, but also not showing any malice or hate to the girl.

That worried her mother, and soon, Barbara will be forced to leave her family.

It was nighttime, and the house was eerily quiet. The crickets chirped outside, their voices echoed throughout the darkness, and tempted the girl to keep the window open for when she would sleep. If her body allowed her to sleep. Barbara was out on the balcony, a smile plastered on her face as she watched lights blink or shine brighter in San Francisco. This activity had always allowed her to enjoy being alive, even though her world was now inverted. The dark blue sky turned orange, the faded clouds becoming more apparent and the houses looking as though an architecture decided to use a modern art palette to paint the buildings.

She would freeze after hearing someone inside the house, her body turned to whoever may have been trespassing their home. But alas, it was only her father, ready to go back to work. She sighed with relief, yet her smile had wavered. "Father probably wants to leave and be gone forever… He probably wants to tell that Foundation about me and make me go away forever." Barbara pondered, turning back to the city.

That displeased her. To feel that ache within her heart, to understand the void that wanted the love of both her parents, but currently, it desired her father's attention and time. Fright would enter the house, running over to the man who was unlocking the front door. She hugged him from behind, alarming her father as her grip tightened. He was much taller than her, that was obvious. While he stood at 6', she stood at 4'8", just about a foot and a few inches shorter.

"Father… Why don't you share me the love that you once gave me?" The child had pleaded to the man, who sighed as she clutched onto his clothes. "Is it fair you give that love to my brother, who has done nothing but continue living like a fool that appreciates only the gifts you give to us? Why must you leave me without hugs, or goodnight kisses?" Barbara questioned her father, crying into her shirt.

The man would remain silent, patting her head and giving her some comfort that she wanted. Yet, he didn't speak once. Barbara would let go of her father, and watched him walk out from the door, before closing it behind him. She was alone. And soon enough, she will find herself in the new world, reborn as a reincarnation.
